A "new lead" could be a new clue, new information, etc.

In Gramado, they are still looking for four men and four women involved in the Banrisul bank robbery about a month ago.  (Two robbers have been caught.  The four women aided in the escape of the other four men.)  Let's say that the Brigada Militar finds a new witness to the escape of the eight people.  He has given the BM partial license plate numbers on both cars and descriptions of two of the four women and one of the four men.  In addition, he found a key ring believed to belong to one of the eight people.  The key ring has a metal tag bearing the name of a small bar in Floripa.  Does that sound like a new lead to you?  It does to me.
