I think you're right when you say most people won't need to speak English at all. I believe that Brazilians should learn how to read first, and then learn how to speak. One of the greatest fears of human beings is to speak in public and when schools ask students to speak and express their ideas in front of their classmetes, the class becomes a torture and nothing useful usually comes out of thier mouths.
Well, when it comes to saying that the future lies in China, I'm not sure, but I do not think I'll learn Chinese.
