So I do not mean to say that people here are wasting their time, just that the average brasilian is wasting his time in attempting to become conversant or functional in english, in brasil.
I beg to disagree. English, because of its make up of Germanic roots, 50% Latin derived words and nowadays because of globalisation is the one language in which , at least western language speakers, with a bit of effort, can become functional or conversant in. We do have a few examples here on this forum.
People who haven't been out of Brazil and do remarkedly well in expressing themselves.
