Mensagem:  Apparently "to let the cat out of the bag" refers to the sale of a cat in a bag in lieu of a rabbit.  (I suppose the cat would be dead.  Surely people would find it fishy that a rabbit was meowing like crazy.)  There is a similar expression in Spanish.
