Mensagem:  Parallel structures are important to improve writing style. The idea is to follow the same pattern in different parts of the text so that it becomes easier to read. Besides, you should end up giving the same level of importance to parallel structures. This can happen in all levels of writing, that is, in words, phrases and clauses. Look at the following examples, taken from [1]:

Example 1
- Non-parallel: Mary likes hiking, to swim, and bicycling.
- Parallel (1): Mary likes hiking, swimming, and bicycling.
- Parallel (2): Mary likes to hike, to swim, and to ride a bicycle.

Example 2
- Non-parallel: The coach told the players that they should get a lot of sleep, that they should not eat too much, and to do some warm up exercises before the game.
- Parallel (1): The coach told the players that they should get a lot of sleep, that they should not eat too much, and that they should do some warm up exercises before the game.
- Parallel (2): The coach told the players to get a lot of sleep, not to eat too much, and to do some warm up exercises before the game.

I hope that helps.
