I hear those terms a lot as references to other places; people don't generally use them in refering to their own areas, it seems. Maybe some slang terms like "sticks", "boonies", "bush", etc are more comparable. Paulo, "countryside" has no hint of habitation other than the occasional house, barn, etc. A small city is a 'town', and a small town is a village (or merely 'small town'). |
