Out if interest I googled for 'doghouse' and found that both dog-house or doghouse are in use.

It is noteworthy that in this particular instance in English those kind of houses are not only inhabited by canines species but quite often by persons , such as a species called 'husbands' of the kind that come home too late or not at all, forget the wedding anniversary and / or object to a 6 months' long stay-over by  to mommy-in-law.
