When I was studing English I had a teacher who had never corrected me telling me I was wrong, reading slow or whatever, he just asked me to repeat doing at the same way he did instead.
If I had a slow-reading he used to read a little bit faster and asked me to repeat you know...same intonation, same speed until I got what he wanted me to get. So I think it might work with you, it is a way to introduce correct things and you do not make the student feel uneasy. It worth a go...
