That´s what I was saying. I wrote about the tests as examples, not as rules. However, that´s is something I disagree about your reasoning. It´s impossible for someone who have passed the CPE starve to death at Mc donalds as you said. This test is so difficult that even native americans have problems with its level.
Anyway, I agree that going to the USA is not the salvation of the universe, if don´t have a teachers course, some preparation, you can be the best speaker and still you won´t be able to make students "learn" the language.
I think it´s strange when Ricardo says that a teacher must have to live abroad for at least 2 years. As I said, it helps for sure, but I still think it is to ask too much from the teachers. I was doing some calculations....
In my College, for instance, there is a program where I could go to California to have english classes and stay in a hotel for a month. The cost was about R$: 7.000... Now imagine how many hours the poor teacher needs to work to afford this "investment"..
