A common theme in our replies to your post is the need to have a specialized vocabulary.  It's not enough to speak both languages well; you need to know the jargon or special terms related to the translations.  For example, an acquaintance in Mexico specialized in financial reports.  A friend in the Washington, DC area has coordinated translations for years.  He gets a translation contract with a printer, hires translators to work on the project, and then collects the money.  Not a bad job.  Much of the work he does is related to military manuals.  One project I recall was the translation of maintenance manuals for boats used by the government of Bolivia.  Quite by accident, I discovered that there was a need for translation of real estate contracts.  I'll never forget being told, "It doesn't have to be good, but it does have to be fast."
