Mensagem:  For sure, if the meaning of this Portuguese word "sacrificar" gives the sense of offering an animal to gods like rituals in ancient pagan´s cultures, althugth if you refer to an injured or an old dog for instance I think put it off sounds better. Just something that popped into my mind to put off could refer to something like a girl turned dowm by a guy by some disgusting habit or even stranges smells . eg. Hellen is nice but her hairy arms pits put me off.
