Mensagem:  Hi Anthony, I don't see a grammatical reason for not using "she and I". What your parents referred to was probably a matter of style. It's always better in English to be specific. "Mary and I" sounds better than "She and I". This however depends on the context. Look at the example below where "she and I" sounds perfectly well: "Mary is one of the nicest persons I know among all my acquaintances. She and I went to the movies last night and had a great time."
