Mensagem:  Well, as you know language is a mere reflection of culture. So chances are you will have the same &"language shock&", when you come to United States. You see, the English variant you probably were taught will seem quite different from the Varient spoken in the United States. Now, as for the duration of the culture shock one is likely to experience when coming to a new country/culture, I would have to say that it is probably from six months to a year depending on the individual's level of adaptibilty. Then again, it could last indefinetely if one is sheltered by one's native language community. Case in point: There was an article recently on LA Times about Mexicans who have lived in east LA for over two decades and yet still find the American language and culture as alien as when they first arrived.
