And...

To leave someone hanging = not to help a person you may have put in the position of needing your help, to leave someone waiting for an answer or further information

 

He said he would work with me in the kitchen and that together the job would be easy.  Like a fool, I said I would help.  He disappeared.  He left me hanging.  I had to do everything myself.  Where did he go?

 

I hate to leave you hanging, but I'll continue the story after making a quick telephone call.
