Assunto:  jive with?

So "to jive" means that something is in accordance? So " does not jive with" would mean that there is a contradiction?

Ex.  John says that he last spoke to Julie at 5 pm but Steve says that he saw John and Julie chatting  at 6 pm. John's story does not jive  with (does not match, is not the same as, does not agree with) Steve's story.

"To jive" also means "to lie to, deceive, fool, deceive, etc."

Are you jiving me?  =  Are you telling me the truth?  Are you cheating me?  Are you deceiving me?
