Yeah, Mike I just leafed my "in paper" Guia Brasil 4 rodas1998, and voilá the very map
you reached is for real, only minor ommission that I have seen by skimming it.
That is, the "Av. Protasio Alves" might have had an arrow with the notice "Alvorada, 15", maybe because the version online was made in a jiffy, who knows?
I mean, this map can be used without fear, compared with the one in my Guide (pg 307).
But I must warn that in page 310, have a more complete map, online I don´t know if there is one.
Still more; maps apart in my "paperback Guide" there are many more information such as places you can see/must see, landmarks, zoological garden, fairs, bike rent, airports, inns, restaurants, Museum(s), beaches, distance to other capitols and even countries and a multitude of things that would took a life to say here.
So, get acquainted with a "Porto-Alegrense" (Porto Alegre local) or even a "Gaúcho" (Rio Grande do Sul local) and ask him where to go and where not to.
I never been to Rio Grande do Sul state, so it is all I can offer for the time being.
