Regina, "gatinha" in Portuguese means (of course) "kitten" or "pretty girl".  The meaning of "pussy cat" in English also means "kitten", but it doesn't mean "pretty girl".  It's an affectionate nickname for daughters, girlfriends, etc.  Why?  I have no idea.  Maybe it's because kittens are allegedly soft, gentle, and affectionate.  In Hollywood (and possibly elsewhere) it's the name of a porno theater.  No, I will not explain why I know that.  Just trust me on that.

I think it's an odd name for a doll, but then I'm not making the big bucks as a marketing consultant, am I?  I've seen some of the dolls.  I see nothing in common with the name.
