Daniel, "some college" is certainly common. Another expression is "I need six more credits to graduate." The advantage of this over "some college" is that (1) the speaker show very close he is to completing his educational requirements for a degree, and (2) the implication is that the speaker will be completing the requirements. (In my example, six credits are equal to about two classses, something that can be done in one semester.) Have you seen this form too?
