Now, to the thread itself.
As far as I know, ain´t only trucks/lorries that use Diesel as a fuel.
Nowadays more and more cars that would be gas-guzzling like the 4x4 types use it.
These autos are used more in races and off-road contests, not fit to our streets and the most of countries´ streets, an example? Italy, they say that such "humvees" (caveirões, poderia ser uma tradução aproximada) or put mildly tanks, is it coincidence that the first tanks used Diese as fuel? I don´t know, can be.
Here in Brazil, such cars are seem as a show of richness/power; and additionally as a "front bumper" in case of accident with a smaller car (this don´t apply in case you collide with a 18-wheeled Volvo truck, obviously).
Ah, in a not so distant time ago, in Brazil, only the millionaires could afford a Diesel car (at the time, vans like D-10 and so on) and the Diesel were subsided, at the same time the badly poor could only afford a corcel or jalopies like this and got by with gas (not additivated, by the way).
Thus, the Diesel were more pollutant then, but served to economic purposes.
Today we have the poor-rich gap yet, the rich has a sedan car with a 2.0 or more engine, the poor? they have a car 1.0 assembly, the proof is that the some cars 1.0 are being sold with a new version 1.6, for example.
That´s said, that´s sad.
