So, we learn with our mistakes Erica, if I were in your shoes would hear what the
boss deem right, if he favour SORRY THAT, or SORRY ABOUT THAT you jump at the bandwagon.
One thing is certain, even the natives make blunders (mistakes) and I would use either
form, till convinced otherwise.
When we take a test the first thing to do is make the easy questions first, if we don´t have a logic of a problem we accept things like they are.
Example, learning German we know that they talk the numbers backwards:
einundzwanzig - in Portuguese "um e vinte"
zweiundzwanzig - in Portuguese "dois e vinte"
Thus, if I want to learn German I must leave behind the historical, cultural or wathever reasons they have to talk like this and focus in the very fact that is so.
Unless your chief is a real demanding person, don´t sweat the small thing, okay?
