Not at all, Marcio they don´t use mini to our "galerias" as you intended to explain (I got it very well, by your wording).
By looking up in the Ramdom House Dict. I found the following entry:
GALLERY- 1-A balcony in theater, church, or other public building.
2- The uppermost of such balconies in a theather, usu. containing the
3- The occupants of these seats. (lembra alguma coisa galera? )
4- A group of spectators, as at a legislative session.
5- A room or a building devoted to exhibition of works of art.
6- A long covered area used as walk or corridor.
7- A long porch; veranda.
8- A large room or building used for photography, target practice etc.
Well, well; I think that nr. 6 nears is closest to your explanation, however also used for vending purposes (has shops etc).
Up to now, I only recall this word, but I recall indistinctly in my memory that I met a word that was synonymous with it, but, too bad that I didn´t jot down.
If anyone can help vanquish our doubt, please help us out.
For the time being gallery will do.
That´s all folks.
