Mensagem:  In Portuguese you can call a dot and a point a ponto. But not in English. In English you can only call a dot a dot (a small, roundish mark made with or as if with a pen) and a point a point (a mark or dot used in printing or writing for punctuation, especially a period).

While in Portuguese you have the ponto do i in English you have the dot of the i. You do not or should not call it the point of the i. Not unless you've got a sharp-pointed i.

You will or should also call a speck a speck (uma manchinha ainda que redonda ou não como um ponto).

Thus spake Márcio-thustra.
