I know that this will sound a bit (or perhaps clearly) ESL-ish, but yes, you will almost often tell a native speaker of English from a nonnative one or an ESL speaker. Not often will the latter indefinitely or forever fake an American/British accent. Sooner or later you will catch him or her out as he or she trips over his or her own tongue. As frequently does this ESL speaker, for example.
At present, he cannot help sounding ESL-ish. Irremediably on all counts.
