Welcome to the English world Perola, I made a crash course for a year with good teachers and demanded a lot of attention from them.
Second, I read a lot; listen a bit (from Speak up CDs and other CD with musics).
Buy some dictionaries and idioms (slang and idiomatic expressions), go to world- quality sites like this one and 'gringoes' and newspaper like the Guardian, BBC in English, read some mags like Newsweek, People, Icaro (by Varig), Wired and get acquainted with the writing styles (informative, novel, fictions, essays &tc.)
Highlite (underline) the words you can´t understand and go to dictionary and learn the several contexts.
With the passing of the time, without noticing you will discover yourself an English-addicted person, and at last, your efforts will pay.
See you again, lots of luck.
