Ok Dale, that’s a commun form do say things like that in Portuguese. When you occasionally meet someone, its commun hear – “como você tem passado? Ou, como você tem ido ultimamente?” – does it make sense to you now?
That teacher lived in Brazil for his first sixteen years. His parents came to Brazil as missionary and he was born in Manaus where he was educated and grew into our culture, getting both English and Portuguese as well. Now, after he has lived in United States for more than ten years, he decides to live here again as a missionary like his father. Thanks a lot for your answer Dale. I still make many mistakes writting in English, if I made one, correct me please.
