Broadly speaking, you are going to invest your money (or monies, if you got a lot of money).
If you are in a small talking with someone (just a idle , say, informal conversation with a friend of yours) you can say you are going to put money in into something as stocks, property (in order to obtain profit or interest, for that matter).
That turns you an investor.
This is only a 'warm up' definition; a kick-off, thus someone else will bring more posts and examples on the matter.
