Mensagem:  "Snobbish" sounds a little strong, but perhaps seems slightly more formal to me than maybe.  Slightly, but not by much.  Maybe the difference is like that between "iced tea" and "ice tea", "burger" and "hamburger".

If Bill said "Perhaps it will rain tomorrow" and Mary said "Maybe it will rain tomorrow", I can assure you that their choice of words would not make me put down my Antarctica, stare into space, and murmur, "Bill has such a way with words, but Mary sounds so caipira."  What I'm saying is that perhaps some of us are taking this far too seriously.  Maybe the time could be spent more wisely on other things. 

Use them interchangeably.  Everyone else seems to.
