The website article conveniently if not desirably warns ESL students on the (over)use of slang in the delights of which they tend to indulge at the earlier stages of learning.
Not only does that approach apply to English as a second language, but also to any other foreign language which the student desires to learn as a second or third language. If native foreign language teachers suddenly started teaching slang to a pletoria of language students all of whom would rather eagerly indulge in and always rely on the informal side of every facet of the target language, then they would have no use for grammar concepts of any kind nor would they eventually need a mentor themselves.
