Assunto:  "a" little English?
1) "  Shouldn't you have written "He speaks a little English" instead?

2) Whenever it's suitable, I correct stds who say "you speak a very good English".  "

with 1) we'd say "He speaks little English" is tantamount to saying "he speaks virtually no English (at all)" whereas "He speaks  a  little English" is more like he's at beginner level

2): we agree with you and would also stick with "you speak very good English" - with the indefinite article 'a' we would come up with a phrase like "you speak a very strange variety of English" (not that anyone would ever need to say such a thing)
