Mensagem:  What are the requirements to become a legal or licensed translator in Brazil?
The reason I am asking is because I gave a simple letter to a "licensed" translator here in Sao Paulo and it took her forever to translate it. She had problems with a sentence in the letter that I had to explain to her.
My Brazilian wife was mad that I had to help an "official" translator over the phone.
I am an American and my wife is Brazilian. She has a degree in Potuguese, English and Literature. What does my wife need to do to become a translator of documents?
It pissed me off that I had to help the translator with the document AND pay R$100.
