Mensagem: | Cara Ana Maria I've heard somewhere that the school programmes in the USA and England don't usually study hyphenation. As far as I know: compound words are separable: waiting (wait+ing), they count (and therefore I think they define syllable) syllables as many times you open and close your mouth: beautiful (beau-ti-ful), special (spe-cial), happy (ha-ppy) pretty (pre-tty), words like: have, like, have just one syllable. I think Ricardo can be more specific about it. Anyway, if you have the opportunity take a good dictionary: there you can see the syllables that each word has. José Roberto. |
