Assunto:  comida fora de hora = between meals.

Let me give some examples. 


We're going on a long trip by bus.  Are you going to take something to nibble on?  (Yes, you could say "eat", but "nibble" here would meaning something like "snack".  You are going to eat small portions of things.)


Why the big smile?  Have you been nibbling on Neuza's ear again?  (Obviously, you don't go around eating girls' ears.  Do you?)


Any luck fishing today?  No, just a couple nibbles (bites).  (The fish were curious about your bait, but not curious enough to take a big bite and get caught.)
