Mensagem:  My copy of Webster's tells me, flipping primarily involves the use of one's fingers to cause a coin to turn over in midair and tossing involves the use of one's entire hand to throw or hurl it upward.

http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Coin-flipping says coin flipping or coin tossing means the same.

Soccer referees often resort to coin flipping (or tossing) to decide which team kicks off first.

Don't toss your coins my way; toss your salad!
