Mensagem:     I crawled the Google and found some interesting definitions (at least for me), enjoy them.  Plus, I took the liberty of putting some other breeds names.
   Hope this helps.

(n.) A breed of large and powerful dogs, with long, smooth, and pendulous ears, and remarkable for acuteness of smell. It is employed to recover game or prey which has escaped wounded from a hunter, and for tracking criminals. Formerly it was used for pursuing runaway slaves. Other varieties of dog are often used for the same purpose and go by the same name. The Cuban bloodhound is said to be a variety of the mastiff.

En muchos casos, los nombres de perro se dicen igual en Inglés que en Español, como en el caso de Terrier, Husky o Boxer. Aquí te pongo los que me sé:

Scottish terrier = Terrier escocés
Siberian husky = Husky siberiano
Saint Bernard = San Bernardo
Bloodhound = Sabueso  (in Portuguese ''Sabujo" aquele cachorro triste, com orelhas caídas...pobre coitado...!)
Boxer = Boxer
Dobermann = Doberman (no dobermann)
Bulldog = Bulldog
Dalmatian = Dálmata
German Shephard = Pastor alemán
Chihuahua = Chihuahua

sabueso:bloodhound, beagle, sleuth      (looks like bloodhounds also stands for beagle race)
