Mensagem:  In English (American) there is some variety possible here. In New Jersey, people will say "I went to the shore." No further detail needed. In general, you'd use coast, such as "I'm going to spend my vacation along the Florida coast." As for your question: I was at the coast/shore/beach - all work. Seaside sounds awkward for me. I usually use it as an adjective i.e. seaside restaurant
