I found this, Sarah . ( Letter sent by a mother to a magazine's advice section )
My daughter wants to be a manizer.
I have Britney Spears to thank for the latest conversation I had with my kids, which I probably wouldn't have had otherwise.
Unless you're under a rock, you've probably heard Spears' song "Womanizer." My kids have never seen the video or any music video for that matter. But they have heard the song on the radio on occasion.
My sons asks: "Mommy, what's a womanizer."
Me: "It's a man who doesn't treat women well. He has lots of girlfriends but he doesn't tell them he has so many."
My son: "So he's cheating?"
Me: "Sort of. It's OK to go out with several people at first to figure who you like. But once you decide, you should stay with one person unless you tell that person you want to break up."
My son: "Is there a manizer?"
Me: "Well, it's not called that. When a woman acts like a womanizer, it's called being a ... flirt." (I'm trying to avoid using the world slut.)
My daughter: "That's what I want to be when I grow up. I want a bunch of boys to like me, and I'll pretend to like them all, but I really don't."
Me (in my head): Great. Where have I failed?
