Hello!

I translated the following sentences, but unfortunately, couldn’t find the boldfaced words. Could you please, help me translate them? Thanks in advance.

“The root cause of the economic and financial crisis was the United States mortgage market selling sub-prime mortgages to large number of consumers with inadequate incomes.”

“These mortgages were bundled into securitized paper investments, and sold by Wall Street to major financial institutions across the globe.”
Obs.: the meaning I found for bundle even for bundled into doesn’t fit in this context.  And I also didn’t find the word securitized.

“When the mortgages became non-performing, these securitized assets were transformed into toxic acid, infecting the entire worldwide financial system.”(Quando estas hipotecas se tornaram não rentáveis, estes securitized bens foram transformados em toxic acid = ???, infectando todo o sistema financeiro mundial.)

“Coinciding with this massive run on the world’s banks, these financial institutions are no longer lending capital to each other, reflected in the rising LIBOR short term inter-bank loan rates.” Is this translation correct, please?

“Capital is fleeing, and the global credit crunch ensuing has frozen the arteries of a global economy based on easy, cheap credit.”

Note: Here I just found that one of the meanings of “crunch” is “to process rapidly”, but I still can’t understant the meaning of the boldfaced words above.

“...a massive global economic crisis is transforming the financial meltdown on Wall Street into an economic disaster on Main Street.”(...uma maciça crise econômica global está transformando o declínio/colapso financeiro no centro financeiro dos Estados Unidos em um disastre econômico da  Rua Principal??? (it doesn’t make much sense...).

Thanks again,

Joacir
