Mensagem:  In the Catholic Church, Mary (called our Lady which originally
means our Queen since the Hebrew word for 'lady' also means 'queen')
is believed to have appeared to some people in history.  For example,
to Bernadette Soubirous in Lourdes, France; to children-shepherds Lucia, Francisco
and Jacinta in Fatima, Portugal etc.  Mary or the Blessed Mother as the
catholics call her has therefore become known as Our Lady of Apparition by the fact
that she has appeared and relayed important messages in history.  The title
Our Lady of Aparecida is derived from these apparition events.  The portuguese
'aparecida' refers to someone (or something) who appeared.  The city of Aparecida
is simply named after the Lady of Apparition.  I hope this explanation may help a bit.
