Your helpful insight makes me wonder whether we can call residents of S. F. de Assis do Piauí simply "piauienses de S. F. de Assis do Piauí". We will call a Fresno CA resident a "Fresnoian." We will call one living in Cedar Rapids IA a "Cedar Rapidian"? What to call residents of Lake Havasu AK, "Lake Havasuians," "Lake Havasuers"? Would those living in Twentynine Palms CA gladly accept "Twentynine Palmers" for a demonym? No, why not? IMWTK. |
