I just thought of another meaning of "gig". It can be a "negative point". You are in the military. There is a uniform inspection. Everyone starts out with 100 points. Your shoes are not shined (you lose 10 points), a button is missing from your shirt (you lose 5 points), and you need a haircut (you lose 10 points). You were gigged for three things. You got a gig for your shoes, a gig for your shirt, and a gig for needing a haircut. |
