Collins [English-English]:

            1. The right to stay permamently in a teaching job at university.

            2.  formal The period of time when someone has an important job: throughout his tenure in office.

            3. law The right to to live in ahourse or use a piece of land for a period of time.


Collins [English-Portuguese]:

            1.(of property) posse.

            2.(of job) estabilidade.



  Ok, the saying may be right, teacher may have not tenure, but professor has. Ha ha.
