"MORE closER", "more greener" are definetely grammatical deviations.
Native speakers almost always follow the grammatical rules for comparisons. They rarely deviate from the rule. Even uneducated native speakers instinctively follow the rules.
Just follow the grammatical rules of your book and you won't go wrong.
