<< This reminds an English teacher I had some time ago.>>
In her diligent effort at pronunciation, my Brazilian ESL teacher would ask the entire classroom to repeat after her, "Lookeee eeet up eeen the deecsheeonary." (She did this stretching the syllables a little bit.)
My other nonnative ESL teacher fell in love with a tall, lanky New Yorker guy and for a time they seemed to have a thing going. For a time only. Because I saw her weeping silently at times while she held her books against her bosom, and I had a guess why -- the New Yorker guy had probably told her good-bye Love I have to go and I can't take you with me.
I think I could write a book about it. But they, in turn, could write me out of one.
