LINGUISTICS & CULTURE

The thing is, in this global community feelings are exposed to different groups and cultures. I'm not one for being politically correct when it's for the sake of some kind of righteousness. However, I feel that language is alive and is evolving all the time. Computer technology has done with language what, perhaps no other fundamental shift has done in the past. Although it is said that Shakespeare's language had an immense impact on the English language.
There are certain expressions in language that have their roots based on ignorance. Religion is full of them. Racism is full of them. So why not continuously review what we say in order to reflect on how we relate to others?
That's how I like to believe humans grow. Prejudice exists, existed and will exist, but in a forum such as this, it's a great opportunity to discuss language as a form of communication that probably matters the most. And words are powerful, they can change ideas, concepts, prejudices...
