I really enjoyed reading the interview with Lia Wyler. She describes her work in a way that shows that the translator's immersion into the work they do is extremely important.
Recently I read "A Cabeça de Steve Jobs" by Leander Kahney and enjoyed it very much. The Portuguese was much more to the point than usual and the translator captured the pace of the book. I couldn't put it down not only because of the content but also because the language didn't get 'lost in translation'. No literary meanders and obscure subjects at the end of long paragraphs.
The interview with Lia Wyler explains the 'whys' the translator is key.
