Hi Dale, don't worry I wont feel insulted...LOL I know what you meant.
If I say to any of my friends here something like "I had a formal dinner" they'd probably laugh at me...I don't know...sounds little bit corny to me...I like black-tie dinner better...
My dictionary has a definition for sit down dinner.
served to seated diners <a sit-down dinner> also : of, relating to, or serving sit-down meals <a sit-down restaurant>
It's kind of the full service gas station that we have in Brazil....you don't need to get off the car it's a "sit-down gas filling"...LOL
