I’m Brazilian you are right in some points. I know is not a good thing to compare people, places but in this case, where the Portuguese language was mentioned, that’s why Portuguese people came in.
First of all, I personally don’t like the way most of Portuguese people treat others. Believe me, I have talked with a lot Portuguese over the years, also with many, many Brazilians. Based on that, I built my own point of view that Portuguese people speak English better than Brazilians. This is not even a rule, but there’s an exception to
If you go to France, for example, you can’t tell who is Portuguese and who is French. They are good with languages. There’s no shame on that, it’s just a fact. Here in Canada same thing, you can’t tell who is Portuguese and who is Canadian.
As I said, the problem in Brazil goes beyond language. Australia for example, it’s younger than Brazil. The educational system there is better than it is in Brazil.
