Assunto:  abatido

   Borrowing Orlando´s words:

"ele ficou bem abatido apos a perda do emprego"
He became very depressed after losing his job.

Also, (since 'abatido' is somewhat, a feeling of being depressed or unhappy'):

"He is a bit down after losing his job/He is a bit low after losing his job"

Obs.: Is our duty to lift up somebody´s spirit in such cases, by saying, for example:

         Lift up your spirits...

         Keep your chin up...

And others in this line of thinking.
