I found it hilarious in Brazil to learn that all Gauchos are this way, all Nordestinos are that way, those from Sampa are this way, the Cariocas are that way... No, that isn´t prejudice at all, is it? And how about the attitude in Brazil against the Argentines? Certainly that isn´t prejudice. Or is it?
Recently in Colombia the wife of a friend said she had wanted to introduce me to a friend of hers, but her husband had opposed it on the grounds that a white American would not like a black woman. I am sure that he never once thought of himself as being prejudiced, but he had formed an opinion about me without even asking my opinion.
Prejudice against holders of certain religious beliefs, nationalities, freckles (yes, I have a friend who is prejudiced against people with freckles), the obese, the thin, the short, the bald...
I am prejudiced against spiders, snakes, sharks, piranhas, cockroaches, and television evangelists. How about you?
