thing. You are 100% right. I think I will call you "Eagle Eye".
I have known a lot of people who have worked on the railroad. They told me they had been ordered to always give the time the same way: It is eight fifty, never is it ten to nine or ten before nine.
In the military, emergency services, police, etc, the 24 hour system is used. 8:50 AM is "oh eight hundred fifty hours". 8:50 PM is "twenty hundred fifty hours". As I recall, "hours" is always used at the end of the term. In jest, to say "very early in the morning" the military will say "oh dark thirty".
